[2:2]  2 tn Heb “his work which he did [or “made”].”

[2:2]  3 tn The Hebrew term שָׁבַּת (shabbat) can be translated “to rest” (“and he rested”) but it basically means “to cease.” This is not a rest from exhaustion; it is the cessation of the work of creation.

[20:3]  4 tn Heb “came.”

[20:3]  5 tn Heb “Look, you [are] dead.” The Hebrew construction uses the particle הִנֵּה (hinneh) with a second person pronominal particle הִנֵּה (hinneh) with by the participle. It is a highly rhetorical expression.

[20:3]  6 tn Heb “and she is owned by an owner.” The disjunctive clause is causal or explanatory in this case.

[31:54]  7 tn The construction is a cognate accusative with the verb, expressing a specific sacrifice.

[37:9]  11 tn Heb “And he dreamed yet another dream.”

[37:9]  12 tn Heb “and he said, ‘Look.’” The order of the introductory clause and the direct discourse have been rearranged in the translation for stylistic reasons. Both clauses of the dream report begin with הִנֵּה (hinneh, “look”), which lends vividness to the report.

[38:28]  13 tn The word “child” has been supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[44:28]  14 tn Heb “went forth from me.”

[48:14]  15 tn The disjunctive clause is circumstantial-concessive here.
